Following its purchase by California-based private equity firm, Yucaipa, Garrard had to create a new IT service from scratch, including buying a new enterprise resource planning solution. Prior to this, IT service and systems had been provided by A&G UK, the previous owner, which agreed to continue its provision for an additional six months following the acquisition. Garrard’s new SAP solution had to be up and running within six weeks – before the deadline for A&G switching off its interim IT service.
Morse came up with a cost-effective solution for implementing SAP and providing ongoing hosting and support. It configured SAP to accommodate Garrard’s retail, wholesale and franchising business models and the company’s different pricing matrices across its worldwide operations. The implementation was conducted by Morse consultants remotely, who also provided on-site training to staff in Garrard’s newly formed finance function.
The system was delivered within the required timeframe before the A&G deadline. Garrard now has a single, robust ERP solution for its global operations, which makes it easy to add new stores as the business grows. There are plans to open new stores in the US and beyond and Garrard plans to make use of further modules of SAP, including HR, logistics and marketing.
